Out with the old and in with the new this month as we say goodbye to the tired concrete sports court and hello to our brand-new 2G multisport pitch – the Smith Arena – just in time for spring.
After much scratching of heads, cups of coffee, digging of holes, cleaning of moss, leveling and fettling, the surface was finally ready for the new underlay and then the carpet. And now, we’re pleased to announce that our new 2G multipurpose sports pitch has now been laid.
The eagle-eyed may have even noticed the pitch hosted its first competitive netball game on Wednesday, when the Elliott Hudson College team took to the pitch.
As part of our dedication to keeping our community happy and healthy, the opening of our new 2G pitch is another initiative we’re delighted to have completed already this year.
Ready for the sporting season
The new pitch is fully-equipped with both football and netball goals, alongside a basketball hoop for 1v1 or 3v3 matches with colleagues, and we’re already looking forward to seeing various competitions and matches taking place throughout the year. What’s more, it’s not only the White Rose Park community that can benefit from the new facility, we’re also offering it to the local community so any local sports teams and clubs can book too.
The new surface is also perfect for circuit or outdoor HIIT training when the weather is a little warmer, so we’ll be teaming up again with our wellbeing partners to plan some new circuit training sessions, led by experienced professionals from the hero Wellbeing team.
How do you book?
We’ll shortly be launching the booking platform for the pitch, so everyone can easily see when the pitch is available and book their slot.
